Why does ISP Report exist?
ISP Report exists to give power back to consumers who care about net neutrality. This means reporting on abusive ISPs, ranking ISPs based on network fairness, and holding broadband providers to a high standard of service.
What is a Network Fairness Score?
It is a 40 point scale used to grade the restrictiveness of the network or the amount of preferential treatment. It ranks on a scale of five each of the eight criteria in the FCC’s Restoring Internet Freedom order: Blocking, Throttling, Affiliated Prioritization, Paid Prioritization, Congestion Management, Application-Specific Behavior, Device Attachment Rules, and Security. The highest score (40) would theoretically represent total freedom and absolutely unrestrained activity. This type of network would be nearly unmanageable for practical purposes, so we don’t believe a 40 is the best possible score. The best score is the one that matches your needs and desires for your own usage of the Internet.
